Whenever I feel a slight bit of discomfort, whether mental, physical, emotional, or energetic, I always ask myself, “Is this real?” or “Is it true?”   It’s a kind of reality snap that leads me to pay close attention to what is unfolding in the moment.   These two questions are an extension of my endless childhood querying of “Why?”  There’s nothing like questioning every thought and every belief that arises in your reality.  It drove my mother nuts, but drove me to the truth of my core.

We are programmed by our past to think and believe that each of us literally “thinks” the thoughts that pass through our minds.  Then the programming further directs us to actually believe what we “think” we thought!

This erroneous ego-based loop is at the root of all suffering in the world.

We are not “thinking” these thoughts that we “choose” to believe.  Nor are we attached to them.  We can choose to release any thought that no longer serves us in our quest for love and truth.

Thoughts are things.  They have a vibration and an energy signature that is measurable and unique.  As energetic beings on this physical plane of Earth’s landscape, we are constantly surrounded and bombarded by a wide array of energies and frequencies.  With nearly seven billion people inhabiting the planet, imagine the astronomical number of thoughts whirling around each one of us—and most of us believe we’re actually generating them.

What’s actually created is a thought-collective of every human being worldwide.  Over many, many millennia it has evolved into our collective programming which affects all of us in some form, shape, or fashion every day as our generations live on. The thoughts we focus on, believe, and attach to emotionally are the thoughts that respectively create each of our worlds and realities, today.

Science asserts that humans use less than 5% of our intellectual capability, which means that the remaining 95% of our brain potential recycles the same known, useless, disempowering thoughts over and over and over, never creating new thoughts deliberately. This “autopilot thinking” is different than applied thinking or deliberately offering thoughts on purpose.

So if we’re all thinking the same recycled thoughts and attaching questions about our self-worth to them, is it any wonder that we’re running so many of the same competitive, comparing, acerbic inner dialogues?  “Am I good enough?  Am I smart enough?  Am I better than them?  Am I prettier and thinner than her?  Am I doing it right?  Oh no, I am bad.  My family hates me.  I am such an idiot.  I am so stupid.  I am so fat.  I am ugly and unlovable.  I am so pathetic.  I am worthless, no one wants me.  The world is filled with evil people.  Men are after only one thing.  Women are victims.”  The list goes on and on and on and we all buy into it because…well, it’s just what we “know” to do.

Most of these incessantly negative thoughts regurgitated by humanity go unquestioned. The lives of boys and girls who later become adult men and women are founded on such thoughts, and lifetimes are lived by them. These precepts for living become right or wrong depending on which side of the track you are on.

Tribal and societal systems create customs, mandates, religions, and traditions: then races, nations, and countries encode these beliefs into laws.  A collective consciousness is created for every group adhering to a particular belief system when enough members are present to generate energy.  We not only sleepwalk through relationships because of unquestioned collective thoughts and beliefs, but we also go to war because of them.  Over time, the unquestioned collective manifests in belief systems about ourselves, other individuals, and communal groups with regard to race, religion, gender, politics, economy, and culture.

We can begin aligning with the Divine to question and transform collective thoughts and beliefs by paying attention to our emotions.  When we make a conscious emotional connection with thoughts and beliefs that don’t feel right or good in our bodies, we become aware that we are buying into the collective, and therefore out of alignment with the Divine.  Stay out of your head and get beyond thought. That doesn’t mean escape from “thinking” by numbing your brain with alcohol, pharmaceuticals, or other drugs designed to disengage you from the discomfort of your truth.  Alcohol and drugs suck the juiciness right out of life by getting you to go below thought.

Waking Up To Your Real Life, Part 1

Truly waking up to your real life can be a rude and sobering realisation especially when you expected heaven on earth to welcome you with a huge parade, drummers drumming, trumpets blaring, baton twirlers twirling, and angels singing, “Welcome home, Love!”

There is this bizarre misconception about being “spiritually awake” or “enlightened”—that once you’ve reached that “level” (isn’t this in itself a mistaken notion that enlightenment, or the recognising and embodying your true nature is something to strive for when YOU ARE ALREADY THAT?)—your life will miraculously become perfect—and you will never be in pain again, or be disturbed, you will never have any worries, your issues will disappear, you will never feel sadness or grief, you will never ever experience the burn of anger, rage, frustration or betrayal again, you will be perpetually happy, you will become a gazillionaire without any effort whatsoever, you will travel the world and be welcomed by all cultures and fed exotic yummy food, you will finally have the perfect body—yes, those extra thirty pounds—forget it—gone, along with the cellulite and flab—you will have those hard abs and those perky boobs you were thinking of maxxing out your credit cards to buy that perfect pair so that FOR SURE you will have the perfect relationship with THE ONE, experience with THE ONE the best sex ever, equipped with wet n’ wild orgasms that last for days, and the world will be begging for your attention, kissing your perfect BOOTAY, you’ll be twittered about endlessly, have millions of Facebook “Friends,” become a celebrity so big you will bring about world peace, and that’s just the beginning…

I get inquiries all the time about what the hell it means to be spiritually awake, enlightened, self-realised, etc…  I also get asked to answer the question without all the cosmic-new-agey-love-and-light-mumbo-jumbo bullshit.

Mostly people just come out and ask: “Okay, I’m spiritually awake, now what?” “Give me the practical version, please. Don’t talk down to me; give it to me straight.”

Okay, I’ll give it a go—to be awake and enlightened or self-realised is to realise that you are a physical expression of the Love Divine-God-Goddess-All-That-Is, expressing as a man or woman, and completely present to Life as Life is happening right now, being in your body, not in your head or mind, and accessing and expressing the full range of human emotion and experience from a place of pure BEING (your true Divine nature as Love, not from your past hurts and programming) through engaging and utilising all seven of your senses on the physical plane—yup all SEVEN OF THEM:

1. Sight
2. Smell
3. Sound–Hearing-Listening
4. Taste
5. Touch
6. Intuition
7. The Feminine Principle of RECEIVING and The Masculine Principle of Giving/Gifting

The truth is living life awake and engaging all of your senses in the Sensual world is ultimately your ticket out of personalised hell on earth—the transition is often like a hard-core roller coaster ride—you can strap yourself in, hang on for dear life, close your eyes tight and pray it’ll all be over soon, or you can raise your hands up in the air and flow with life’s ups and downs and twists and turns—screaming all the while, laughing as you experience the immense pleasure from the thrills, and feeling the scary stuff as it occurs, breathing through the upset when you bump up against “wanting off the fucking ride, now” and everything in between.

Being at peace with life as it unfolds isn’t as easy as one might think—all our darkness and triggers and emotional limitations come flying out in all directions to be dissolved by the light and love that you are.  That sounds a bit woo-woo, but it really isn’t.  It’s like airing out a closed room filled with shit, piss and garbage—you can clean out the shit, piss and garbage, but the stench of decay and dying will take some time to dissolve and dissipate.

We are so trained to keep our emotion-mental-mind-body selves “together” and in check. We are so threatened by feelings and emotions, and by folks disagreeing with us.  We pretend we’re not at the effect of our stuff and others, but the truth of discomfort, like elation, always comes through.  I once had a friend who told me he couldn’t stand me smiling all the time.

Our bodies down to its cells are like electrical-energetic circuits—and unexpressed or suppressed emotions, feelings, and traumas carry charge, much like any piece of electronic equipment, even if it’s not plugged in to a power source.  There is capacitance, or stored energy, and you can get shocked by its discharge just by “touching” or tuning into it.

Once upon a time I taught a beginning electricity-magnetism physics lab and was setting up some exercises for my students.   I always instructed them to approach their units and “touch” the equipment with the backs of their hands, so that if there was a “charge” their body’s reaction would be to pull the hand away from the unit.  Invariably, some of my students were distracted and didn’t hear or get my instructions, and end up getting the “shock” of their lives—pushing up against the unit, rather than pulling away from it.

Facing our deepest, buried emotional-mental stuff is kind of like this.  You can try and avoid feeling, but at what cost to your aliveness.  We are not automatons. We’re meant to live passionate juicy lives, right? Right!  Bring it…all of it!

Like Chiron, Randy’s life purpose includes healing his own ancestral wounds while reconnecting with the strength of his ancestral gifts.  The first step in Randy’s quest was to heal ancestral wounds by promoting healthy, healing touch in the world.  Randy became a certified massage therapist and bodyworker – specializing in blending Eastern and Western modalities in a transformative practice he continues to this day.

In 2008, Randy traveled to the remote Amazon rainforest in order to advance his vision quest for shamanic healing and the embodiment of Chiron.  His intentions were twofold: to heal his own wounds and to actualize the Radiant Shaman within.  Through this experience, Randy found indisputable evidence that the Universe does indeed provide!

Realizing the Radiant Shaman within addressed generations of denial of ancestral gifts.  Randy’s Great-Grandfather was a Cherokee shaman who was integral in the celebration of the Stomp Dance celebration of the displaced tribes of Eastern Oklahoma.  Due to the scourges of Federalism and Racism, Randy’s ancestors chose to deny their heritage at a time in our history when acknowledging their true heritage meant relinquishing the bulk of the family’s land and possessions.

In spite of this tribal denial of heritage and a conservative mid western upbringing, Randy has always known a deep connection with Mother Earth and Father Sky.  The constraints of religious dogma and societal fear could not bind Randy’s life purpose of reuniting his spirit with Divine Love.
